Bahia & Laguna - Combo de la Naturaleza

Drive along the scenic coastal road via San Rafael, Paraiso and Los Patos. A bit further in direction south you will reach the Oviedo Lagoon. The Oviedo Lagoon consists of 22 islands of varied sizes and vegetation. After the visit, you will take the road and cross the all National Park in direction of the deep south until reaching Cabo Rojo. A boat will take you on a 15-minute ride to one of the most beautiful natural beaches of the world. The beach of the Bahía de las Aguilas is located in a national park and its sand is pristine and white. The bay is over eight km long. Experience an exceptional coastal landscape with crystal clear water in shades from turquoise to opal-blue that melts into the horizon. Enjoy lunch on the beach, go swimming or snorkeling and explore this untouched ecological and natural paradise.

Bahía de las Aguilas - Paraíso virgen

Cachote - Comunidad aislada y bosque humedo

Today, you will discover the eastern part of the national park Sierra Bahoruco and the cloud forest in the mountain village Cachote. A four-wheel-drive takes you up to a scenic outpost, from where you’ll have a wonderful view over the beaches of Paraiso and the river Nizaito. After Lunch and a short walk, you will reach Cachote. Here you can meet the local people who still live the traditional way without electricity and light. On the way back, you will have the opportunity to swim in a river that is also popular by the local kids.

Lago Enriquillo - Lago de Cocodrilos

The area around the Lago Enriquillo is one of the country’s most beautiful regions. The lake lies almost 40m below sea level. The region is hot and dry, but partially also very fruitful thanks to some springs and small rivers. Several important former Taíno colonies have been discovered in the desert-like surroundings of the salt-encrusted lake.  It is refuge for crocodiles as well as rare rhinoceros-iguanas. With a little luck you will encounter one of these impressive animals. On the Way back you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the natural swimming basins of Neyba before driving back to your hotel.

Laguna de Oviedo - Isla de Flamencos

Drive along the scenic coastal road via San Rafael, Paraiso and Los Patos. A bit further in direction south you will reach the Oviedo Lagoon. Only a small strip of land separates the lagoon from the ocean. After a short walk along the lagoon, a boat ride will show you the beauty of the nature from another point of view. The Oviedo Lagoon consists of 22 islands of different sizes and vegetation. On a stop of one of the islands you have the chance of seeing iguanas in nature. The hike then will take you across the small island through a bleak landscape where cactuses dominate the scenery. Enjoy a perfect view over the lagoon, the Jaragua national park, the Caribbean Sea and the mountains of Bahoruco from a scenic outpost. Head back to Barahona, but stop first in Los Patos to take a refreshing dip in the river.

Larimar - Joya Azul

Drive along a spectacular coastal road to Bahoruco. From there, you will drive up the mountains to the only Larimar mine in the world. The Dominican Republic is the only country in the world where this beautiful stone can be found. In the mine, you have the opportunity to talk to the miners and can also see the hard work they do. You will even have the chance to find your own Larimar. On the way towards San Rafael lunch will be served directly on the river with a natural swimming basin and waterfalls. Before heading back to your hotel, you will visit a Larimar workshop where you will not only see how the stone is processed but also have the chance to process your own.
